Written on the back of this postcard dated 19 March 1918 towards to end of the First World War:
" Signaler George Hague 21416. Dear Rose, many thanks for the present you have kindly sent me, it is great. I shall just enjoy the contents as it looks so grand. I shall not be home for Wednesday as said, as on account of Hull being out of bounds, but can't say when it will be inbounds. Am on Castle guard again tomorrow and I got a cold with the last. More later George."
