She was wrecked on the rocks near to the Spanish Battery. The date was 24th November 1864. People on the cliffs could see her but the sea was very rough. 30 people were saved, but 32 drowned. Every-one was upset so a meeting was held and the Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade was formed.
