Extraordinary Tides - A very singular interruption of the usual flow of tide was observed off Cullercoats near Tynemouth, at ten o'clock in the morning of Saturday last. The sea was then in a state of almost perfect smoothness: there was not the slightest wind which could ruffle the surface. The tide had flowed about half way. The sea was then observed by the fishermen, who were standing on the banks and about the haven, suddenly to recede a distance of about twelve yards, so as to leave one boat. which had just returned, and which was before surrounded with the water, altogether on the day shore. After remaining in this state for about two minutes the tide then as suddenly flowed again to the distance of about two feet beyond the previous and regular water mark, that is, twelve yards and two feet. The water flowed the whole distance about as rapidly as a person could walk. The tide then flowed on in its usual course without any further interference. The whole disturbance occupied about ten minutes.
