In a short time brought both men and boats into the haven in safety, amidst the cheers of the spectators, and the cries of gratitude by the poor fellows' families. The life-boat gave even more satisfaction in this trip than she did during the experiments made with her a fortnight ago. The men tested her in a variety of ways, and in each she gave the highest satisfaction. She clears herself of water most admirably, and, according to the men's account, is as steady as a rock. The Mayor of Tynemouth and Capt. Cunningham, who have taken a lively interest in the success of the life-boat, were down shortly after she came ashore with the rescued crews, and the men that manned the life-boat expressed their gratitude at having the privilege of such a boat on the station, and their satisfaction at having been the means of preserving the lives of their companions through her instrumentality. The fishermen intended presenting an address to the Duke of Northumberland, in acknowledgment of his kindness and munificence.
